Hello and welcome to Its Not Just Philly! The main goal here is to debunk the myth that Philadelphia sports fans are worst professional sports fans around and expose other cities’ sports fans as being just as bad and sometimes worse. I also hope to poke some fun at other teams’ fans and some of the crazy things they do.
As a person who has lived in and around Philadelphia my entire life, I am of course a fan of the Philadelphia sports teams. I am also sick of the national media (USA) constantly making a story out of Philadelphia sports fans and never reporting the antics of other cities’ sports fans.
Philadelphia sports fans get a bad reputation throughout America as being disrespectful, obnoxious, rude and downright nasty to opposing teams and their fans inside our home stadiums. Some of that reputation is well deserved, we have a lot of idiots here who do stupid things. But the majority of Philly sports fans just want to go to the game, have a good time and cheer on their team.
Philadelphia is a tough blue-collar type of city where people work hard and earn a living. We don’t like the idea of professional sports athletes making millions of dollars not giving 110% and we’ll let you know about it. Just ask any player in any professional sport whose played here. We pay good money to see our teams play and if you don’t perform, we’re going to boo. It’s our right as fans to expect the best out of our players.
